The sapient live on earth, not able to travel to other planets or high tech, but one day that all changed.
The Kharleans invaded earth by launching hives to the surface to begin production for a breeding ground to produce warriors to fight their age old enemy, the Titans.
However, the titans had the same idea, but when they archived they meet a planet at war. Their enemies, the Kharleans, were fighting this newly discovered race, the sapient, who appeared to not like the idea of sharing their planet.
Trying to win the long struggle, the titans invaded earth to stop the Kharleans and conquer the sapient to begin the production of their own powerful army.

ninja you have to battle for something, like the nexus oxide, a rare air molecule that if harnessed right, could change the tides of the biggest battle.

2034, May. A small patrol of marines make a regular walk, insuring they went be attacked. There Nexus Oxide was found. For centuries, a group known as the Krahleans had fought strange robotic cyborgs known as the titans. Each race knew the full potential of the source; it could turn the tides of any battle. The oxide could combine with chemicals to form impenetrable armor, heightened weapons, and Nexus Bombs. See how there's conflict over a source/ substance?

I'm guessing, like me the creators of Uniwar were fans of War Hammer 40k, chess, and command and conquer.

in a time so far back even the oldest engineers only know of it as legend. it is said that the Robot was the slave to the human and that Titans were a creation of man. If that is really true or not it counts for little. For today, humans bend at the knee for their robotic masters and serve their bidding across the breadth of the universe. Forced to fight and conquer planets in order to secure survival, rank and privilege for their families and communities, constantly under threat of complete extermination. But perhaps there is hope. A new foe; a giant insectoid race, smart and aggressive they seem capable of fighting anyone and everyone. Despite conflicts among the many clans of hives they have also manage to inflict some stinging defeats on the Titans. Some Saipan societies see this as the opportunity that they have long awaited for and have triggered their carefully planned rebellion. Rising up against the Titians and even re-programming vast numbers of Titian forces. The galaxy is ripped asunder as the cold might of the imperial Titans descends to crush all opposition added by Saipan slaves and opportunistic khralean Clans fighting against rebelling humans, re-programmed titans and those khraleans that choose to bow before no-one.
