We are happy to announce the FROZEN PLANET tourney!

It will be in the round robin format with 4 players in each group where all players play simultaniously vs the others in his/her group. The winner of each group advance to the next round.
The matches will be with predefined races, maps and positions - and single match vs each opponent.
All players will use each of the races once in each round.

Deciding on winners will be fully automated:
END OF ROUND:
For unfinished games at the end of a round, the winner is the player who has
1. The most owned bases
2. The highest total value of killed units
Otherwise, the game is a draw.

TIES IN POINT:
When 2 or more players have the same number of points at the end of a round, the winner is the one who has
1. The least number of rounds for all the winning matches
2. The highest total value of killed units for all matches.
Otherwise, the winner is randomly chosen but that should never happen unless the participants did not make any move.

These 4 maps will be used in the tourney (in order):
- NumberEight
- Klondike
- WinterTourney
- Crashlandingfinal

Registration: January 5th
1st round from January 12 to 27
2nd round ends on February 10
3nd round ends on February 20
4nd round ends on Mars 2
5nd round ends on Mars 12

Tourney open for all players (with validated email adress) !

*TOURNEY STARTED* 384 players !! Best of luck

No mirror games?
Races are defined randomly?
Every race combination is possible?

I'm down as long as Su47 is placed far far away from my bracket 3)™

Two questions about the tourney.

1) Why are all the games rated? I dont remember that part of the sign up. The current rated aspect of the tourney leads me to point 2...

2) WTF is up with Group 1? Not one to complain but I cannot imagine that the other divisions are very 'balanced' if I am the lowest rated player (based on the ladder) in a division at #34. Seriously - I have the #3, #20, and #21 player in the uniwar universe in a division with me in a RATED tourney? How in the world were the spots drawn and how out of 384 players does a division consist of such uniwar murderers?

Any attention to my rantings is appreciated.

Thanks,

Elroy

No email notifications...I just realized the date seems to have passed!

These tournaments need to make it clear where to go and *when* on the rules page, seriously! It's so easy to not keep up with what's going on. I only just now thought to check out this thread

What's the scoop?

Hello Elroy

This tournament is not primarily a "pro" tourney. Its more about testing out new tourney features and the round robin format.
Groups where organized by closest score wich would be much more fair for the lower ranked players.
I agree that there was no information on signup about games beeing ranked or not. This was a late descisssion and the devs believe that rated play would be best in tourneys and spescially when players score are close in score.
That said: i agree that both organizing of the brackets and rated/unrated should have been know on signup.

Hope you still have some good time playing in the tourney and that you will enjoy the in-game tourney features to come later this year.

edit: if it is any comfort...group 2,3,4 are at least as hard as yours

It was announced on the frontpage of www.uniwar.com, the forum, ingame chat and by a system message in the game... to bad you missed it.
We will possibly also use email the next time.

Hey sims, will round 2 of the tournament be set up the same way? Top four players in Group 1, next four in Group 2, etc.?

Sims-

Thanks for addressing my concerns. As much as I feel I was part of a bait and switch scam, I guess I should feel honored that I got stuck in a group with the likes of my dasterdly competition. I suppose if I pull out a miracle upset on evilcat I could reap some serious ladder points. I didn't even know scores went that high. 4000? Is he a unicorn or some mythical beast? I admit I know little of the nefarious evilcat.

Farmer, eh? How does one farm, exactly? 1 min games or something?

Also, I do appreciate not being in the group with Jon and Soli. Thats pretty cruel company too.

FYI: Please spare me replies about soil, water, and sunlight.

haha.. good one Elroy!

You are a top player, so you know this ofc.. but for those of you that dont know what i mean by "farming" :
using rigged games 3/10 minutes and booting players when they are not online, or using unfair map/matchups with the help of multiple accounts and/or the bot to win by unfair means
