If anyone else is still trying to get 1550 like me, custom games can be set up with multiple AI players.
I just did my first 4vall and got 30 fame for winning instead of the usual +8.
I'm going to try different configs and see what I get

I haven't run the numbers, but after a few more 4vAll's it seems to follow the Elo's rating system, described by simsverd. Points change hands as an army is defeated, so in a 4vAll n=3, and 1v1 n=1.
