Tournament Director: EVR1022

Spring 2017 Pro Tournament
Start date April 1, 2017. 24 players. Invitation only.

A 6-round swiss-style tournament (all players play all rounds) featuring some of the best Uniwar players around. Each round of the tournament will feature a specific match-up:

Round 1: Khraleans vs Sapiens
Round 2: Titans vs Titans
Round 3: Sapiens vs Titans
Round 4: Khraleans vs Khraleans
Round 5: Khraleans vs Titans
Round 6: Sapiens vs Sapiens

Each round will consist of a mirrored match on a carefully balanced map. If a player wins both games of the mirrored match he will receive 3 points. If the players split the games, then the player who won in fewer rounds will receive 2 points, and the other player will receive 1 point. The highest point total after 6 rounds wins the tournament.

Buy-in: 500 Uni-coins

Prizes

Overall
First place: 2,400 Uni-coins
Second place: 1,800 Uni-coins
Third place: 1,200 Uni-coins

Under 2550
First place: 1,800 Uni-coins
Second place: 1,200 Uni-coins
Third place: 600 Uni-coins

Note: a player cannot win both an overall prize and an under 2550 prize. He must choose one or the other if eligible for both.

Additionally, each round one brilliancy prize worth 500 Uni-coins will be awarded for the most impressive game. Any player may nominate one of their games. The tournament director will pick two or three of the nominations for all players to vote on (players may not vote for their own game).

Qualifications for entry

This tournament is invitation only, but you may request an invitation if you meet the following qualifications:

Additional Tournament Information

Time per turn = 24 hours.

Time per round = approx. 3 weeks.

Time per player per round = maximum of 12 days.

The goal of this tournament is to produce high quality games that will enrich the strategy of Uniwar moving forward. Please do not skip unless it's absolutely necessary.

All games should be played to the final cap. The number of rounds in your wins and losses will be used to break any ties in the final standings. Please play your best whether you are winning or losing. If winning, aim to win as quickly and efficiently as possibly. If losing, do everything possible to drag it out a few extra rounds.

Please endeavor to play quickly when possible and complete your games in the allotted time. If any player exceeds the maximum time of 12 days on the clock the Tournament Director reserves the right to call the game. Whether I choose to do so is at my discretion, and I will be reasonable about it, but I won't put up with stalling tactics.

Maps will be released a minimum of 7 days before the round starts. I encourage all players to practice them.

Amphibians and tankbuster units are allowed and encouraged. If any new units are released during the tournament they will be ineligible for the current round, but may be allowed during the next round if the tournament director believes they won't impede balance.

@ Bakes -

Not sure if we'll see any upsets (although there are a few matches I have my eye on), but I do think several of the lower rated players have a good chance of salvaging 1 point out of the match-up (if the two players each win one game the player that won faster gets 2 pts, and the player that won slower gets 1 pt).

Admittedly, it ended up favoring Khrals more than I expected. Swarmer buff after I made the map didn't help, lol.

But maybe it is balanced and we both just played the Sap side really, really bad??

(Ugh, Khrals are gonna go like 20-4 this round I bet.)

Still just one match finished. Unfortunately as third player I can't see War Report once I surrender so no idea how the in progress matches are proceeding.

Round 2

Match-up: Titans vs Titans

Map: Solomon Pro

Note: Starting this round, all tournament games will be played on a 3 player map with the tournament director as Player 1. This will allow me to name the games in a way that will lead to more usable archives later. I have constructed the 3 player version of the map in a way that the amount of credits on each turn is exactly the same as the 2 player version.

Hi EVR, I did not notice the pairings were witten in black. Now I can see them by zooming in. Btw, good maps in round 1 and 2. They are indeed carefully chosen. Round two favors red a little bit though.

Kikoho won the first match against me and will likely win the second. Any other updates?
