It would very cool to be able to alter the charateristics of units so we could create our own armies.
The big problems are showing the characteristics of units and costing the custom units.
If the weapons arre added as a layer then the body of the unit and then the legs/tracks/etc the opponent will be able to guess what the unit is capable of.
Costing the units is tricky and would take time to balance if done manually. However, if data from the games is collected this could be used to frequently adjust the cost of the units.
