Everyone reading this probably already knows this, but you can use a unit that you normally wouldn't attack with for the gangup bonus. An good example is using a Pincer to attack a heli, and then coming up behing the heli with a Garuda to attack with 1-2 more damage.

very good tip and very true. it's sometimes also worth sacrificing infantry to do this, too. (i.e. attack a pinzer with a marine so you can gang up the pinzer from the other side to kill it)

Very true. A few marines with gangup and the right terrain can bring a pinzer down to around 4
|

Not for gangup purposes, no. In fact, it may be better to have low health. If the marine dies in the fight then there is an open hex where it was standing to launch another attack with a gangup bonus.
