So I am a newcomer.. been playing for a couple months now. I love this game. It is definitely my new favorite, and I play it constantly. I just want to start off saying that the game's balancing is near perfect, which is what makes this game playable in the first place. Who would want to play the game if one race had a definite, acknowledged advantage over the other two races?

So I just have one HUGE problem with the game's balancing. It revolves around the special unit for each race. The engineer, etc... I think these units are awesome, and make the game much, much more interesting, but I'm pretty sure it does not make sense to have made them not equal in the first place. There is no good reason for the engineer to have an advantage over Titans and not Khrals. I'm sure at some point, there was a reason for this, but I really think it no longer makes sense. I'm sure it's possible to say that it somehow balances out over time in multiplayer games, but in the single player game, it just makes no sense.

Lastly, I would like to say that it is a super easy fix. All you have to do is change the names of a few things. EMP couldn't be emp since that wouldnt effect krhals, but it could just be electric storm, or whatever. And then change the names of the possess a unit abilities, and you are done.

Yeah the titans have it a bit better here, since the UV ray on the assimilator hurts both khral and saps. But then it doesn't do anything other than repair in tvt. I want to say there may be a thread around here discussing the specalty units having more use in other matchups, but i can't seem to find it.

I do agree it would be nice for these units to be able to do more than repair in other matchups, but i would like to see testing done to see what the impact would be on those matchups.

In game name is the same as here "Neiko".
Long time Starcraft/Advance wars player before coming to Uniwar. I also try to make balanced maps, so feel free to check out my maps in game and provide me feedback

Awesome that you love the game! The community is small but passionate and some of us have been playing for years. The developers are great and have been adding tons of new features lately, such as tournaments and soon new units.

I don't really get your point though. You want the special units to affect all enemy races? I think that the way they are now is a key part of the design. If for example emp affected khraleans, that would make it even harder for khraleans to beat sapiens. The natural characteristics of each race have an inbuilt rock-paper-scissors, with titans beating sapiens beating khraleans beating titans. Just look at the base infantry unit for each race to see this. (This is looking at the races in a vacuum; in some maps this isn't true). Underling cannot even touch helicopter but can burrow under plasma to threaten walker. Marine on a forest or mountain = goodbye swarmer / garuda. Mecha = too strong for marine & marauder.

Tldr: The special units allow a skilled player to beat a race that has more advantages.

I think it's a common misconception that the specialist units show which races are better than others. It's the opposite, actually , the specialists shore up weaknesses making an unwinnable matchup even.
