Can someone please explain how this new feature works? I see the stats on each unit, but without knowing the math, the numbers don't mean anything.

very simple:
Unit defense x % of armor piercing
Let's say, Bopper vs Hydronaut
Bopper pierces 50% of Hydro's defense
10 Def x 50% (0.5) armor piercing = 5 Def pierced

Someone posted about how rounding works in the chat yesterday. But because I choose to ignore the math component of the game I didn't read it well enough to remember.
But if you get a weird number like 8.6, it does SOMETHING. I just can't tell you what.
(It becomes either 8 or 9, I think. )

Please note that the armor piercing is applied after the terrain effect. This means that the armor piercing / defense reduction is stronger on "good" terrain and weaker on "bad" terrain, and afterwards it is rounded.
(The "good" terrain part is theoretical though, because air/heavy/aqua units have no terrain with defense bonus)
Example:
Eclipse (defense: 9) on plain (+/- 0), attacked by Borfly (50%AP): Effective defense: 9 * 50% = 4.5, rounded 5 (AP effect: -4)
Eclipse (defense: 9) on forest (- 3), attacked by Borfly (50%AP): Effective defense: (9-3) * 50% = 3 (AP effect: -3)

That's interesting, I would like to know how does the rounding exactly work.

So, the defense is rounded up if it gets a decimal value of 5 or more, otherwise it is rounded down, am I right?

To be honest, I am still not really sure how the piercing works - even after reading your explanations.
All because I stumbled across this situation:
I had a 10 health garuda placed on top of a city and it got attacked by a 10 health borfly.
To my suprise, the borfly made 4 damage on the garuda.
I thought the math would be like this: Garuda has 8 def, reduced by 2 because of terrain (city), therefore def 6.
Borfly has 50% piercing, leaving the garuda with def 3.
Borfly has only attack 1 vs. air, so it should be 1 attack vs. 3 def => Damage 4 should be impossible.
Does the piercing mean, the percentage of the reduced armour is directly inflicted as damage?
Than the math would add up...
Thanks for your help

I would also like an explanation about the armor piercing concept. I don't understand it at all.
